Abstract submission

The meeting organising committee invites abstracts for the 35th Australasian Brachytherapy Group Annual Scientific Meeting 2027.

We are seeking exciting, innovative and creative presentations on all aspects of brachytherapy. Calling for presenters from all brachytherapy professional streams and experience levels.

Abstracts must be submitted by Friday 4 September 2026.

ABG Prizes

The conference organising committee is pleased to announce that a prize will be awarded for the best oral presentation.

Winner will receive complimentary registration to the Australasian Brachytherapy Group Annual Scientific Meeting 2028.


Invited speakers and those on the judging panel are not eligible.

The eligible presentations will be critiqued by judges appointed by the ABG Conference Committee. The judges’ decisions will be final. Presentation of the award will be made in the closing session.

Before you begin with your submission, please prepare the following information:

  • Brief biography of presenting author – limited to 100 words.
  • Co-authors’ names and affiliations
  • Preferred presentation type:
  • Oral presentation
  • Poster presentation
  • Abstract category:
  • Original Research
  • Case Study/Series
  • Abstract title – limited to 25 words.
  • Abstract text – limited to 400 words including acknowledgments.
Abstract categories

1. Original Research Abstract Requirements

Original Research abstracts (oral or poster) require specific headings and should clearly state:

  • Background
  • Aims
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion


2. Case Study/Series Abstract Requirements

Case Study/Series (oral or poster) abstracts are free-form and do not require specific headings. They should however describe the following:

  • Presenting history
  • Brachytherapy implant technique
  • Applicator type
  • Planning & optimisation methods
  • Final dosimetry
  • Clinical outcomes if available
  • Clinical reasoning/decision-making for the above
  • Challenges/learning experiences/what you would do differently next time
Guidelines for submission
  • Word counts and limits must be adhered to. 
  • Submissions must be made in English. 
  • All presenting authors (oral and poster) must register and pay to attend the Conference. Please aim to register by the end of the early bird pricing (20 November 2026), to guarantee your timeslot on the program
  • Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears.
  • Use generic names of drugs. The presentation must be balanced and contain no commercial promotional content.
  • Submissions may not contain patient names, hospital ID numbers or other identifying information.

Selection criteria

Abstract selection will be based on clarity, scientific rigor, significance, relevance, interest in the topic chosen, innovation and usefulness. The Conference Committee has the right to refuse or accept any submission, accept the submission as a poster or an oral presentation and allocate the paper to a different category than the one under which it was submitted.

You are welcome to submit up to 5 abstracts for consideration.

Kindly refrain from submitting the same abstract for both oral and poster presentations. Each abstract should be submitted once and designated for consideration is either an oral or poster presentation.
